Woman left 'shaken up' after large stone thrown at her car windscreen

A Nottinghamshire woman was left lucky not to be injured after a large stone was thrown at her car windscreen while driving.

The driver, who was left "shaken up" and "frightened", was travelling along the A57 in Worksop when the incident happened at around 3.50pm on Sunday (September 27).

It occurred as she passed under the footbridge between Cavendish Road and Windmill Lane when the unknown offender threw the large stone at her car.

The stone hit the woman's windscreen, causing it to smash. However, it did not injure the driver and she managed to keep calm to stop her car safely.

Following the incident, Nottinghamshire Police have released images of damage to the car and a picture of the stone in question.

Officers believe the images may help in finding the offender, who has been described as a white male in his mid-teens with short blonde hair and a navy blue hooded top.

Police Constable Ty Foers is leading the investigation.

He said: "The victim is understandably shaken up and we all thankful that no one was injured.

"The offender is described as a white man, aged around mid-teens with a medium build, he had short blonde hair and was wearing a navy blue zipped hooded top.
