Woman left injured after she was dragged to the floor by a handbag robber in Swansea

A woman has been injured after a robbery in a Swansea street.

Police are appealing for information after the incident in Heol Gwyrosydd, Penlan.

The victim, who is 52, was walking along the road when she was approached by a man.

According to police, the man spoke to her and then grabbed her handbag - which had been hanging over her left shoulder - resulting in the victim sustaining “a number of injuries”.

Police now want to trace the man involved.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: “We are appealing for information after a woman had her bag stolen while walking along Heol Gwyrosydd.

“The incident happened at about 7.45pm on October 6. The victim was walking towards the direction of Penlan Social Club, and she had a bag which was over her left shoulder.

“As she passed the Penlan Methodist Church and crossed Morlais Road and she was outside the flats on Heol Gwyrosydd, she was approached from the front by the suspect.

“The suspect spoke to the victim and then grabbed her handbag by the shoulder strap, causing the victim to fall to the ground. During the incident the victim has sustained a number of injuries.”

The suspect police want to talk to is described as a white man who is around 6ft 1ins tall. He is aged in his early to mid 30s and is of stocky build. He is also described as having thick eyebrows and a pointed angular nose.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a grey hooded top with dark trousers and spoke with a local accent.
