Woman left in hysterics over Wetherspoons' measly portion of cheesy chips

You that feeling, when you're a few drinks deep into a good old day sesh with your mates, and you think to yourself, "I could just murder a portion of cheesy chips."

We've all been there, and that's exactly what happened to one woman, when she was out boozing in Southport, Merseyside, over the weekend with her pals.

Feeling peckish, the woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, decided to treat herself to side of cheesy chips from the Sir Henry Segrave Wetherspoons on Lord Street on Sunday, August 1.

But, while the diner admits she wasn't expecting gourmet food from the pub chain, she was left in hysterics when her cheesy chips arrived.

"It was only Wetherspoons so I wasn't expecting a gourmet meal, but it did make me laugh," she said, as per the Liverpool Echo. "Can you see the cheese? I struggled to."

Bemused by the apparent lack of cheese on the cheesy chips, the woman decided to post a picture of her meal in a food review group on Facebook, and was met with mixed responses.

"It's not World War II, is cheese still being rationed?" one Facebook user jokingly questioned.

"Is that mayonnaise?" another asked, while a third commented: "I did think that was salad cream".

A fourth questioned: "Oh my gosh, that's meant to be cheese?"

Meanwhile, a slightly more rational commenter wrote: "Apart from the lack of whatever is meant to be on top, am I the only one who thinks the chips look nice?"

A spokesman for Wetherspoons told the publication: "We are sorry if the lady is disappointed with the food she received.

"She is welcome to get in touch with Wetherspoon head office and her complaint will be investigated."
