Woman left horrified after hairdresser leaves her with 'Sharpie' highlights

Let's be honest, we've all endured a bad haircut or two in our time - and while it can seem like the end of the world in the heat of the moment, we've lived to tell the tale.

But one woman on TikTok knows just how devastating it can be to leave the hairdressers hating the hair on your head, as she was left with disastrous chunky streaks after asking for her hair to be bleached blonde with "lowlights".

Emily, who is from the US, shared a video in which she sarcastically put her thumb up as she forced a smile before showing the catastrophic work that was done to her head.

She explained: "I went to the hair salon and this happened."

The woman then moved the camera to reveal what the top of her head looked like - with chunky black streaks and several copper-coloured strands in between.

She wrote in the caption: “It’s my birthday in two days and this is what it looks like….”

Emily, who posts under the username @emilyyyy_89, also clarified that she asked the hairdresser to dye her hair blonde and add lowlights.

This was meant to give her hints of colour that are darker than your base colour which helps to add a sense of thickness to your hair.

The woman's video received over 1,800 comments - and people were quick to point out just how bad her dye job looked, with some even claiming it looked like the black streaks had been coloured in with a Sharpie pen.

One person wrote: “They really just drew them on with Sharpie, didn’t they?", to which Emily replied: “That’s what I said. Like if I wanted this I could do it with a Sharpie.”

Someone else then joked: "I kind of like it, it reminds me of a Snickers."

While another said: "Put some orange streaks in it and you can have that trendy Halloween hair."

But some commenters admitted they were actually fans of the unique look, as they insisted her hair could've turned out much worse.

Someone posted: "To be honest, I like it."

And another agreed, adding: "It's not even that bad, I kind of like it."
