Woman left horrified after discovering mystery Christmas tree bugs that vacuum couldn’t kill

A woman was left horrified after discovering her Christmas tree was infested with mystery bugs that kept reappearing despite sucking them up in the vacuum cleaner. The woman ended up with more than she bargained for after deciding to buy a real tree for the festive season this year.

After spotting the critters crawling on a present, she attempted to hoover them all up but was baffled when they kept coming back. She desperately turned to Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips, where several commenters told how they’d faced a similar problem, the Mirror reports.

Writing on the Facebook group, the woman asked: "Has anyone had these bugs come from their real Christmas tree? Does anyone know what they are? I hoover them up and they're back again after a couple of hours. Any help appreciated."

In response, people were quick to try and offer advice, with many suspecting the bug pictured could be an aphid. One commenter wrote: "Looks like the giant willow aphid, I had them on a tree in my garden and was a nightmare to get rid of them! I would take the tree back! Good luck."

A second said: "Hard to see but look like aphids? The warmth indoors has probably woken them up." And a third suggested: "Go careful my mums tree had an infestation of Aphids all in the middle part of the tree a massive nest of them all hatched and was absolutely covered

Shine a light into the tree and have a good look as they won't go you need to remove the tree from your home and deep clean the carpets!" Someone else wrote: "Be sure to empty your vacuum each time you vac them up, they can crawl out , dump vacuum contents outside each time."

Meanwhile, other viewers shared their own horror stories. "We had a tree with a full infestation one year and a laminate floor...never realised until I saw the dog licking the floor to death," read one reply.

A different person wrote: "We had this happen.. figured out a spider nest had hatched in our house after being in it for 2 weeks.. hundreds of them starting coming down a day . The tree is now on the front lawn."

While someone else shared: "I once woke up to a full infestation and I'll never have a real tree ever again." And it sounds like she's not the only one, as people were disgusted by the stories.

"Now that's put me off ever having a real tree!!!" wrote one unimpressed viewer. Another commented: "I'm now really itchy......"
