Woman 'left her two dogs to die inside hot car while she gambled at casino'

A woman has been arrested after two of her dogs died in a hot car while she gambled in a nearby casino, say police.

Casino security were alerted to the vehicle after receiving reports from a number of concerned guests who spotted the distressed dogs.

Sherrill Langford, 50, was charged with three counts of animal torture and two of animal cruelty causing death after the incident at Four Winds Casino in Dowagiac, Michigan.

Officers from nearby Tribal Police Department and security guards had forced their way into the vehicle where they found the two animals had died.

A third dog was also found severely dehydrated and is reported to be in a critical condition, reports ABC57 News .

It is not known how long the 50-year-old allegedly gambled for while the dogs suffered.

But Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz described the ordeal as lasting for "hours".

Langford, from Flint, could face up to four-years in prison if convicted
