Woman left 'having flashbacks' after dog attack near beach

A woman has been left having disturbing flashbacks after her dog was attacked at Crosby Marina.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the ECHO she was walking her English Springer Spaniel, Shanks, at the popular spot on Saturday morning (August 14).

She said: "It was about 11.30am, a huge Dog de Bordeaux type dog pounced on and attacked my dog as we walked past.

"The woman had her young daughter holding the dog on the lead, and she shouldn't have, as it easily got away from her.

"My husband and I had to fight the dog off our dog, who is thankfully okay.

"Shanks is fine but I've been really upset. I see the attack again every time I close my eyes.

"I'm starting to settle down a bit now, but I'm still very angry."

Merseyside Police confirmed a report of a dog being attacked by a larger dog at Crosby Marina/Cambridge Road on August 14.

A police spokeswoman told the ECHO there were no reports of any injuries to the dog or any humans.
