Woman left fuming as husband 'publicly ridicules' her tattoo in 'shaming group'

Getting a bad tattoo isn't uncommon, and although it can be difficult to come to terms with the less-than-ideal permanent mark on your skin at first, many people eventually learn to laugh at their wonky inkings.

There are countless groups on sites such as Facebook that are dedicated to sharing pictures of bad tattoos for all to see - and while they might be a source of entertainment to some, others can be deeply hurt if they see their own ink appear on the group to be made fun of without their permission.

And that's exactly what happened to one woman whose husband thought it would be funny to upload a picture of her newest tattoo to one Facebook group.

Sharing his side of the story on Reddit, the man explained he thought his wife's tattoo was "dumb" so when she uploaded a picture of it to Instagram, he took it and posted it on the group, thinking his partner would never find out.

But when friends of his wife who are also in the group told her what he'd done, she was furious - and accused her husband of "publicly ridiculing" her.

The man wrote: "So my wife has a lot of tattoos. Some of them are really really high quality and meaningful, others are smaller and more silly. She recently got a large piece that she saw on TikTok after she paid the artist for the right to use the design.

"She didn’t tell me what the tattoo was, and when she came home she was giggling and showed me the dumbest tattoo I had ever seen. It was big and right on the front of her thigh.

"I’m a part of a couple of silly groups on Facebook where people post bad rings, bad tattoos, makeup etc. I took the post from my wife’s Instagram and posted it, cropping out her Instagram name.

"I guess my wife has friends that are in the group and they told her. My wife came in and told me I was a jerk for doing that and just because she knows it’s a silly tattoo doesn’t mean she deserves to be publicly ridiculed for it.

"My friends tell me it was a harmless joke but my wife is super mad at me."

Commenters on the Reddit post were largely on the wife's side, with some suggesting her tattoo wasn't actually that bad - because the man never explained what it looked like in his post.

One person said: "You haven’t even told us what the tattoo is, so I’m guessing the tattoo actually looks fine and you just decided to humiliate your wife for a laugh because it wasn’t your cup of tea.

"Which would be sh***y even if it was a bad tattoo. That’s your wife, dude, why would you do that to someone you supposedly love and care about?"

As another added: "I’m in ink shaming groups on Facebook, and those can be brutal. Although the rules are often to not shame the tattooed person, that rule isn’t always followed.

"It wasn’t done with good intent. And you know what the outcome could have been, and you know they could have made some really awful comments toward her personally. You know this."
