Woman left fighting for life after collision in Ashington

A woman has been left fighting for life after a crash in Northumberland.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Ashington at the junction of Woodhorn Lane and Wansbeck Hospital at around 10:55am on Wednesday.

Paramedics took a woman to hospital with life-threatening injuries where she remains in a critical condition.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward and help them with their investigation into the collision.

Sergeant Dave Roberts, of Northumbria Police’s motor patrols department, is now keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw any of the vehicles in the area before the incident.

He said: “This was a serious collision sadly resulting in a woman being taken to hospital in a critical condition.

“Officers are now carrying out enquiries into the collision itself and the events that preceded it.

“If anybody saw the collision, or has dashcam footage that can assist with the investigation, we would urge you to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 353 080120 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
