Woman leaves heartbreaking note thanking stranger who helped dying son

A mum left a handwritten note on a beach shed thanking the stranger who helped her dying son.

Max died diving off Brixham breakwater, in Devon, on March 16.

Locals found the woman's note pinned to one side of the Brixham Breakwater Beach shed, although she did not leave her name.

In the message, she thanked a 17-year-old person called Lilly for calling 999 when Max was struggling in the water, Devon Live reports.

The note says: "Brixham people my son Max died on this beach 16 March.

"Funeral 13 April. I am his mum, you folks have called 999, Lilly is the hero who did this, at 17 years old so great.

"Thank you all so much for your kindness.

"Divers! Never desert your buddy."
