Woman learns boss has been 'spying' on her at work after awkward text message

Although it's expected that you should behave yourself at work and be respectful towards your employer and their business, people have different thoughts as to where exactly you draw the line.

One woman has recently divided opinion after recalling the time her boss caught her "eating expensive food again".

She claims he clocked her on the security camera footage, while she'd been sampling the tiramisu and appears to have no regrets.

Taking to TikTok, the unnamed woman shared a screengrab of a message exchange between her and her boss, dated January last year.

The conversation begins with her manager sending a screenshot taken from CCTV, showing her caught out in the act of sampling the dessert.

Beneath the screenshot, her boss firmly told her to "stop eating the tiramisu", to which the TikToker simply replied, "It's good though".

Unfortunately, this didn't do anything to win him over and he instead instructed her to come and see him after her shift ended, warning, "I'm taking this out of your tips".

The TikToker - who goes by the username @ im.a.fridge.wtf - says she initially tried to distract him by starting up a game of 8ball pool but, alas, this didn't exactly work out.

The video has been watched more than 2.6 million times, and followers have been left somewhat divided on the issue.

One person quipped "If you’re not stealing food from work… Do you really work there?", while another jokingly praised her for carrying out "quality control for the patrons".

Others suggested that the manager was going too far by taking away her tips, with a third person remarking that it is "illegal where I live for employers to steal from your tips regardless they can take it out of your check but not tips due to the fact that other people give them to you, not your employer".

However, some were less understanding about the situation, believing that eating the pudding was a step too far, regardless of how good it might be.

One person wrote: "As someone whose parents own a cafe these comments are super disappointing, a lot of these cafes and places would be family owned and you’re eating stuff that makes the profit and pays you wages. Frankly, it’s just rude and disrespectful".

Responding to the heated debate among commenters, the poster clarified: "It’s just a TikTok. I know what’s right and wrong".
