Woman 'lying in the road' hit by lorry

A woman who was lying in the road has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a lorry in Bristol.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the woman, who is in her 60s, was struck in Kings Weston Lane in Lawrence Weston.

The incident happened at around 9pm on Friday, October 18.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "A woman in her 60s who was lying in the road was struck by a lorry.

"The woman had been walking to work on the nearside pavement along Kings Weston Lane, having just crossed over the motorway over bridge.

"For no apparent reason she has ended up in the road, where she has been struck by the van, sustaining a serious leg injury."

The woman remains in hospital.
