Woman launches 'Uber for haircuts' in Bristol after quitting the army

Dooo is a brand new Bristol-based mobile service that makes getting a haircut more accessible and efficient.

Described by CEO and Founder Jessica Palfrey as 'Uber for haircuts' the forward-thinking app aims to bring convenience, whilst disrupting gender binaries in the haircutting industry - by bridging the price gap between men and women's hair cuts.

Before the launch of Dooo, Jessica rented a chair in a local hair salon - however, could no longer do so after lockdown as the cost skyrocketed, which encouraged her to start up her own business.

However, Dooo's mission exceeds simply cutting hair. The app is carefully created to consider any anxieties people may have surrounding getting their hair cut and caters to them in order to deliver peak comfortability.

The carefully designed app allows for customers to enter any special requirements they may have that the stylist may need to know in advance - whether that be that they take a little longer to open the door or that they would rather not have a mirror present.

Dooo's creation was inspired by Jessica's own experiences of discrimination because of her hair, after her head was shaved while she was training to become a Royal engineering officer.

Since beginning her own hair journey Jessica has cut hair in some bizarre locations, including on top of Mount Everest and even under the sea.

The launch of the app was funded with a huge £78,000 that was raised through crowdfunding, however, Jessica doesn't want to just stop there.

Whilst recruiting stylists to ensure she can cater to all hair types across the entire Bristol area, she is also in talks with investors and hopes to see Dooo launched in five major cities by the end of 2022.
