Woman late for work on second day of new job after cows invade her garden

An employee had a novel excuse for being late in her first week in a new job after cows invaded her garden.

Emily Jones, of Baytree Walk, Whitworth, could hardly believe her eyes when she was about to head out to work at 8.15am, only to find two intruders grazing on her lawn, and preventing her from getting to her car.

The amooosing incident took place on Tuesday, May 25, and did not end there - with incredulous drivers spotting three cows sauntering through the town centre later that morning, LancsLive reports.

Emily, 29, admitted it was “a shock” and that she was concern about being so close to the huge animals, but despite only being on the second day of her new job at Rochdale Infirmary, she thankfully did not get into any trouble.

“I stayed in my house until they left,” she said.

“No way was I going outside! I was just about to set off for work and had to tell my manager I would be ten minutes late. She found it hilarious when I showed her the pictures.”

Emily need not have worried because her neighbour came out and was stroking the cows, although she did discover they had left her a surprising parting gift.

She added: “They are so friendly. But they did leave me a present on my rose bushes!”

After moooving on to pastures new, the cows caused a stir on Market Street in the town centre.

One resident, who put photos on the Bacup Past & Present Facebook page, said there were three cows on the loose at one point.

Her photos caused much merriment, with some jokers udderly milking the situation dry.

One posted: “Slow mooooving traffic.”

Another said: “Some farmer’s let his cow get loose, how dairy...??”

And someone added: “Bet the poor thing is fresian out there.”
