Woman knocked out and man's face slashed in city centre attack

A man and woman were attacked in Liverpool city centre.

The woman was left unconscious and the man suffered face injuries in the assault that took place in the early hours of Friday, October 22.

The victims were reportedly attacked by two men, who spoke with Manchester accents, around Concert Square, possibly near to Wood Street.

The first suspect is described as a white man around 5ft 6in tall, with a brown combover hairstyle, white shirt and blue jeans.

While the second suspect was described as black, 6ft 1in tall, wearing a dark t-shirt.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Detectives are appealing for information following an assault in Liverpool City Centre in the early hours of this morning, Friday 22 October.

"At around 3.30am, emergency services were called to Concert Square to reports of a man and a woman being assaulted following an altercation with two men, possibly in nearby Wood Street.

"The victims were taken to hospital, the woman having been reportedly assaulted and left unconscious, and the man having suffered a facial laceration.


"Enquiries are ongoing, including witnesses and CCTV. The scene has been stood down.

"The suspects are described as one white man around 5ft 6in tall, with a brown combover hairstyle, white shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect was described as black, 6ft 1in tall, wearing a dark t-shirt. Both reportedly spoke with Manchester accents.
