Woman knocked down by car in 'hit and run' incident as police launch probe

A police probe is underway after a woman was knocked down by a car in a 'hit and run'.

The incident took place around 12am on Sunday (February 20) to the north of Glasgow at the junction of Auchinairn Road at Woodhill Road in Bishopbriggs.

The 29-year-old woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

Local eyewitness reports say that the driver of the vehicle sped away from the scene without stopping after hitting the woman.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 12.10am on Sunday, 20 February, officers were called to a report of a woman struck by a car on Auchinairn Road at Woodhill Road.

The 29-year-old woman was taken to hospital and later released.

"Police enquiries are ongoing into this incident."
