Police have charged a man with murder over the stabbing death of a woman in north Queensland on Saturday morning.
Police said a 49-year-old woman was killed at a unit complex in the Townsville suburb of Pimlico around 1:00am.
A 40-year-old man from Mount Isa was on Saturday morning charged with her murder.
Police will allege the death was a case of domestic violence but would not confirm the relationship between the accused killer and the victim.
The man is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.
Neighbours told the ABC they have called police to the unit block in the past after hearing residents yelling and fighting.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk was in Townsville on Saturday but declined to comment.
Woman held captive in Ipswich, police say
Detectives at Ipswich, west of Brisbane, have charged a man with strangulation and holding a woman against her will.
Police have alleged a 29-year-old man from North Ipswich held a 28-year-old woman captive in a unit while subjecting her to physical and verbal abuse.
They alleged the woman was strangled and beaten, sustaining physical injuries to her head, wrists and face.
Police attended and arrested a North Ipswich man at 6:30pm.
The man was charged with five offences including strangulation, assault occasioning bodily harm, deprivation of liberty and contravening a Domestic Violence Order.
He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.
Police said the woman treated in hospital for non-life-threatening physical injuries.
