Tributes have poured in to an "absolute diamond" who was killed in a pile up on the M62 near Huyton.
Emergency services were called to the motorway, between junctions five and six, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Witnesses reported that four vehicles had been involved in the tragic crash, which left a number of people injured.
One driver was rushed to hospital for treatment but a woman in her 50s, who was travelling in a separate car, died at the scene.
Friends of the victim have named her as "Paula" on Facebook as dozens of people posted tributes to her and messages of support to her family.
Jacqueline Fishwick said: "RIP Paula, a lovely lady, would have been on her way to work to open up, as she has done for many years.
"She will be sorely missed and heartfelt condolences to her brother and sister, whom she meant so much to."
Carol Hill also said: "RIP Paula you will be sadly missed.
"We were like one big family when we all worked at Nevins.
"Still can’t believe it, fly high Angel."

Kathleen Murphy Howard added: "Paula you were an absolute diamond.
"Thatto heath have lost an amazing lady.
"My thoughts and prayers are with your lovely family and friends."
Merseyside Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward to help with their investigation into the crash.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the force said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the M62 this morning, Thursday, 28 January.
"At around 5.45am, it was reported that four vehicles were involved in a collision on the eastbound carriageway between junction five and six in Huyton.
"Emergency services attended and an occupant of one of the vehicles, a woman in her 50’s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this time.
"The driver of another vehicle has also been taken to hospital for assessment of injuries."
