Second victim killed in London Bridge terror attack named as Saskia Jones

The woman killed in the London Bridge attack was a former Cambridge University student, it was confirmed today.

Saskia Jones was killed when Usman Khan launched his attack at Fishmonger's Hall on Friday afternoon.

The first victim was named yesterday as , who served as course co-ordinator for Learning Together, the initiative run by the University's Institute of Criminology aimed at improving prisoner rehabilitation.

Saskia, who was just 23, from Stratford-upon-Avon was volunteering at the conference.

Khan, 28, killed Jack and Saskia before injuring three other people.

He was tackled by members of the public before being shot dead by armed police on London Bridge.

In a statement, Professor Stephen J Toope, vice-chancellor of the university, said: "I am devastated to learn that among the victims of the London Bridge attack were staff and alumni of the University of Cambridge, taking part in an event to mark five years of the Learning Together programme.

"What should have been a joyous opportunity to celebrate the achievements of this unique and socially transformative programme, hosted by our Institute of Criminology, was instead disrupted by an unspeakable criminal act.

Usman Khan: What we know about the London Bridge attacker

"I am sad beyond words to report that a course co-ordinator, Jack Merritt, was killed, as was a former student not yet named by the Metropolitan Police. Among the three people injured, whose identities have not been publicly released, is a member of university staff.

"Our university condemns this abhorrent and senseless act of terror. Our condolences, our thoughts and our deepest sympathies are with the victims and their families."
