Woman killed in house fire in Kilcoy, north-west of Brisbane, one person still missing

Police have confirmed to the ABC a woman has been killed in a house fire in Kilcoy, north-west of Brisbane.

It is understood there were several people living in the house and one person still remains unaccounted for.

Heavy machinery is expected to be brought in to search the site.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said four crews responded to multiple triple zero calls around 2:20pm.

Crews arrived to find the Golf Links Drive residence well alight.

Firefighters battled the blaze for more than an hour and were able to contain it within the house of origin.

A crime scene has been declared and police and QFES are investigating the cause of the fire.

Queensland Police said in statement that investigations of the crime scene will continue on Sunday morning.

"Crime scene and fire investigators will process the scene from first light to determine the cause of the fire," it read.

Anyone with further information about the fire has been urged to contact police.
