Woman killed in dog attack and man left with life-changing injuries

A 43-year-old woman has been killed following a dog attack and a man is left with life-changing injuries on various areas of his body and on the face. The shocking incident happened at a house on Friday, July 15 at around 10pm.

Pictures from the scene, on Masefield Road, West Melton, Rotherham have been shared with Yorkshire Live. Several beautiful floral tributes lining the railing of the home, which has been cordoned off by South Yorkshire Police.

South Yorkshire Police said a woman was fatally bitten and died at the scene. A 42-year-old man, who is believed to have an adult son with the woman, was taken to hospital with injuries to his hands, abdomen and face.

The dog and another dog, neither of which are banned breeds, were seized by specialist police officers. South Yorkshire Police remain at the scene today with a police cordon still in place around the property and police officers standing guard.

The line of floral tributes can be seen stood up in cups with touching messages to the family and woman killed on them. Neighbours and family members have been pouring into the street to pay their respects today. One tribute reads: RIP. Lots of hugs. I am going to miss you loads xx."

Another simply says: "RIP. We love you." While another said: "To our beautiful angel up above. You will never be forgotten, love you always." Follow Yorkshire Live's blog for updates and more information.
