Woman killed, four hospitalised after fiery crash in rural Queensland

A woman has died and a man and three children have been injured in a fiery crash in rural South-East Queensland.

Emergency services were called to Durong, about 90 kilometres north-west of Kingaroy, after a car carrying two adults and three children hit a tree and caught fire just after 2:00pm.

A 25-year-old Loganlea man suffered burns to his arms, legs and back and has been flown to Royal Brisbane Hospital in a critical condition.

The 26-year-old woman died at the scene on Chinchilla-Wondai Road.

A four-year-old boy has been flown to Queensland Children's Hospital in a critical condition after suffering head injuries.

"The driver of the car reportedly swerved to avoid a kangaroo," an RACQ Lifeflight spokesperson said.

"The vehicle rolled and burst into flames, causing an area of roadside bush land to catch fire."

Two boys, aged one and two, also suffered head injuries and were taken to Kingaroy Hospital both in a serious but stable condition.

Fire fighters were called to extinguishing the blaze, which spread to surrounding grass and trees.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
