Woman killed and two seriously injured after driver 'loses control and hits pedestrians'

A woman has been killed and two people injured after a driver reportedly lost control of a car.

The horrific incident happened at around 12.15pm on Haddon Hall Road in Droylsden.

Police say a driver aged in his 70s is believed to have lost control of his vehicle and collided with three women.

One died at the scene and two others were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and assisted police, reports the Manchester Evening News.

No arrests have been made.

An air ambulance is believed to have landed earlier.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: "A woman has sadly died following a collision on Haddon Hall Road, Droylsden, Manchester.

"Officers were called at around 12.15pm today (21 October) to Haddon Hall Road where it is believed that a man in his 70s lost control of his vehicle and collided with three pedestrians."

"Emergency services attended but despite the best efforts of paramedics a woman - the pedestrian - was sadly pronounced dead at the scene."

"Two further female pedestrians have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The driver has remained at the scene to assist police with their enquiries.
