A woman has been killed and a man is in a critical condition after a car crash in the early hours of this morning.
Gardai are investigating the crash and said the vehicle was "subject to interaction with gardai prior to the collision".
The collision has been referred to the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC).
It happened on the N3 in Belturbet, Co Cavan at around 12.40am on Saturday morning, June 26.
The woman killed was a passenger in the car. A man, another passenger, was rushed to Cavan General Hospital in a critical condition.
The male driver and two other female passengers were also taken to hospital, but their injuries were non-life threatening. All of those involved are in their 20s.

The scene has since been closed for an examination by a Garda forensic team and gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
A Garda statement read: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the , on 26/06/2021 at approximately 12.40am.
"One passenger of the car, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, a man, was taken to Cavan General Hospital in a critical condition.
"The driver, a man, and two other female passengers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. All persons involved in the collision are aged in their 20s.
"The scene remains closed for a technical examination.
"Gardai are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Cavan on 049 436 8800 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
"This vehicle was subject to interaction with gardai prior to the collision. As such the matter has been referred to GSOC.
"No further information is available at this time."
