A woman has been killed and her body kept in fridge in a rented property she shared with her two lovers.
The body of Vanusa Pereira da Silva was found wrapped in blankets and placed inside a refrigerator lying horizontally on the floor.
Her two partners, an unnamed man and a woman, are suspected of killing and concealing her body at the house.
Police arrived on the scene on Wednesday following a report by the brother of one of the suspects.
After discovering the 25-year-old woman’s body, the authorities believe she died at the property in Janiópolis, Paraná State, Brazil, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police spokesperson Rafael Neto told local media: “A man called us and informed us that his sister had confessed to committing a homicide with a man.
“We went there and found the body in a refrigerator, which was lying inside a room and was turned off.
“Due to the odour of decomposition, the suspects threw quicklime [calcium oxide] over the body and also wrapped it in blankets."
Neto added: “It has not yet been possible to confirm the cause of death.
“Witness reports state that the man, the woman, and the victim were in a loving relationship and that this could have been the motivation for the crime.
“A preliminary investigation found that the man recently arrived in the city to live."
The suspects have been identified by the police but have not yet been arrested on any charges.
Vanusa worked as a housekeeper and had a seven-year-old daughter.
A friend of the victim, who wished to remain anonymous, told local media: “She didn't deserve that. It's very cruel to do to a human being, especially as she was a very good person.
“Vanusa didn't comment much on her relationships and said she was single on social media. Now, who knows the whole truth, if she was in a threesome or not.
“She never told me about that.”
The investigation into Vanusa’s death continues.
