A woman has tragically died following a horror crash in Dumfries and Galloway.
Emergency crews raced to the A710, Dumfries to Dalbeattie Road at the B793 junction, Southwick Bridge, in Southwick just after 1pm on Sunday April 11.
The incident involved a van and a cyclist.
A woman, aged 44, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
Officers closed the road upon arrival at the scene and remains shut while officers carry out an investigation.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the A710 and use the A711 as an alternative.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a crash involving a van and a cyclist on the A710 near Southwick around 1.05pm on Sunday, April 11.
"Emergency services attended and a 44-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Her next of kin has been informed.
"Road closures remain in place while officers carry out enquiries."
