Woman killed after being struck by car on busy road in Richmond

A woman has been killed after being struck by a car in west London.

The victim, in her fifties, was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but police reported that she died the next day.

Officers were called to the crash on the A316 Twickenham Road, near to the junction with Richmond Rugby Club, at around 4.30pm on Tuesday.

"Her next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers," a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said.

The force confirmed the driver of the car involved in the incident stopped at the scene.

Police are asking for anyone who saw the collision and who has not yet spoken to officers, or who has dashcam footage which may assist the investigation, to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8543 5157.
