Woman killed after being hit by car named

A woman who was killed after being hit by a car was named by a court.

An inquest opening held at Ruthin County Hall on Monday, April 11, heard police were called to the A494 in Mold at around 5.28am following reports of a woman being hit by a car. Once at the scene officers found paramedics treating a 31-year-old woman who was unconscious and not breathing.

The woman, who was identified as Deanne Michelle Bethan Jones, from New Brighton, was rushed to Wrexham Maelor Hospital via ambulance but died shortly after arriving, NorthWalesLive reports.

Ms Jones, of Lindum Close, was confirmed dead by staff at Wrexham Maelor at 7.12am on April 1. Assistant Coroner, Kate Sutherland, gave a provisional cause of death as "multiple injuries due to a road traffic collision" and adjourned the inquest pending further investigations.

Following the collision, police launched an appeal for witnesses to assist with their investigation. They confirmed the collision involved a woman pedestrian and a Skoda Octavia.
