Woman kicked partner in groin and lashed out at cops as they tried to arrest her

A woman kicked her partner in the groin then lashed out at police officers as they tried to arrest her.

Yvonne Caulfield assaulted Stephen McQueenie outside his flat in Wilson Court, Hamilton.

Caulfield, 39, of Briar Bank, Lesmahagow, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.

She admitted charges of assault, threatening or abusive behaviour and police assault after the incidents on January 31.

The court heard Caulfield started calling Mr McQueenie names during an argument.

He escorted her out of the flat and a neighbour, who heard the disturbance, went outside to see if she could help.

The neighbour witnessed Caulfield kicking Mr McQueenie and called the police.

Caulfield was abusive towards the officers and could be heard kicking the windows of the police vehicle as she was being driven away.

She also attempted to kick one police officer’s head.

Caulfield was taken to hospital for treatment to self-inflicted injuries and then tried to kick another officer.

Defence agent Andy Thomson admitted the charges were serious, but said Caulfield is now getting treatment for an alcohol problem.

The relationship is now over, he added.

Sheriff Douglas Brown deferred sentence on Caulfield, who admitted previous convictions, until December 17 for good behaviour.
