Woman issues warning after dog notices something wasn't right

A woman woke in the early hours when her dog alerted her that something wasn't right.

The woman awoke this morning after her dog barked at two people who had snuck down her drive to peer through her window with a torch.

She revealed when her four-legged friend barked, the pair quickly fled down the drive of the Melling home.

She posted in a local Facebook group at 3.49am: "Just been woken up by our dog barking. When looking out two people, one wearing reflective clothing, with a torch looking through our window. Then ran down our driveway when the dog barked. Southney Close."

People have been commenting with concern and sharing the news they fell victim to crime overnight. One person wrote: "We live in Birchtree Drive and 2 lads have broken into our house and stole our house and car keys but didn't get the car. Please be aware."

Another person commented: "We were broken into last night and both of our cars have been stolen. A black Volvo and a blue Ford Fiesta. If anyone saw anything suspicious would appreciate a private message so as not to hinder the police investigation."

Sefton Police also took to Facebook this afternoon to share an urgent warning to those in the area.

The post said: "There has been an increase in burglaries in #Maghull this week, several of which appear to have targeted high value vehicles. Be mindful of locking all doors and windows and utilising alarm systems where available."
