Woman issued with fixed penalty after smash involving bus and truck on Gorgie Road

A woman has been issued with a fixed penalty notice after a smash involving a bus and a truck on Gorgie Road on Monday afternoon.

Police say there were no reports of any serious injuries in the accident, which happened close to the junction with Balgreen Road at around 2.35pm.

Commuters coming into the city were facing long delays stretching into the late afternoon and early evening as a lane was closed. Images from the scene showed a Lothian Bus with a smashed windscreen and a white truck which appears to have struck a railing and traffic lights.

The accident was cleared, and lane fully reopened on Monday evening.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 2.35pm on Monday 11 November 2019 to a report of a road crash involving a Ford truck and a Volvo bus.

"Police and ambulance attended however there was no reports of police of any serious injuries. A woman was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice in connection with road traffic offences."
