Woman issued a stark warning to 'not to have kids' with partner who goes to the gym

A woman has been warned after she took to an online forum to complain about her partner who choses the gym 'over her.'

She explained that as she works from home, she is the only one who does the housework and he goes to the gym four to five times a week, resulting to him getting home at 7.30pm.

She wrote on Mumsnet: "Been with partner for four years and lived together for two. I'm trying to get the spare room decorated and furniture built.

"In the last month my partner has been to the gym four to five times a week and as I now WFH (work from home) I'm obviously doing a lot more housework than I used when I was in office. Washing everyday, cleaning, built the wardrobes that arrived, cleared our bedroom out etc.

"Every night I've been having dinner on my own as partner doesn't get back till 7:30pm and I can't wait that long. I've asked him to give up golf next weekend to do a tip run and asked him to sort his draws etc out as they're full of rubbish he doesn't need. We've had a huge argument about this as I'm fed up of almost being second best and waiting around for him to be free.

Many warned her that this attitude wouldn't change, while others argued she was being unreasonable.

One said: "He doesn't prioritise you and never will. Don't have a baby with this man, and I hope you have a very long think about this relationship and whether this is what you want to settle for."

Another echoed: "You need to think very carefully before you have kids with this man."

Meanwhile someone else argued: "There’s nothing wrong with him going to the gym regularly if you don’t have children at home. Are you sure you haven’t become too reliant on him for company now you’re wfh?"

"Why the sudden interest in the gym every night of the week.....?" One interjected.

Meanwhile one suggested: "It sounds like you just need to sit down and discuss your expectations of each other and try to reach a compromise. I also don't think 7.30pm is that late - could you have a light snack to keep you going so you can eat with him?"
