Woman is searching for the 'guardian angel' who saved her life in Louth

A woman is searching for the “guardian angel” who saved her life by pulling her down from a motorway flyover last month.

The young mum wants to trace her saviour to say a heartfelt thank you for giving her a chance to seek the help she desperately needed.

The Co Louth woman, who doesn’t want to be named, would like to reassure others thinking of ending it all that she knows now there is always hope and to appeal to them to talk to someone.

The incident, which occurred on November 1, is all “a blur” and she hopes someone will be able to help her find the woman who acted quickly when she noticed her on the M1 flyover at Castlebellingham.

She told LMFM Radio: “I would love to find her to thank her. She saved me.

“Things just got on top of me and I felt I couldn’t talk to anyone. I didn’t want to bother anybody. I just woke up that morning and just couldn’t see any way out.

"I looked at my young kids, honestly thought they would be better off without me but I know better now. I don’t remember driving up the motorway. It’s all a blur. I had climbed over the railings and was ready to jump when this lady pulled me back.

“I kept saying, ‘No, no’ but she didn't care about herself or Covid. She just pulled me back over the railings and hugged me. She had spotted me as she drove off and pulled in and ran to help me. I just remember falling into her arms as she embraced me.

“We both fell on to the road and I was sitting there when my sister drove past and spotted me.

“The lady stepped back and my sister cradled me and took me home and then to the hospital and everything happened so fast.”
