Woman injured after thugs steal handbag from car outside Chinese supermarket

A woman was left injured after thugs stole her handbag from her car outside a Chinese supermarket.

Emergency services were called to Chung Wah supermarket, on Hardy Street in the Baltic Triangle , shortly after 6pm on Tuesday.

It was reported that a woman was sitting in her car in the car park when the occupants of another vehicle stole her handbag .

During the incident, the woman suffered a head injury and an ambulance was called to the area.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are currently at Chung Wah supermarket on Hardy Street in Liverpool following reports of a robbery.

"We were called at 6.05pm today, Tuesday 8th October, following reports a woman had had her handbag taken as she was sat in her car in the car park by the occupants of another vehicle.

"The woman suffered a head injury during the incident and an ambulance has been called to the scene.

"The other car, believed to be a dark coloured Vauxhall, left the car park.

"Enquiries are ongoing to trace the vehicle and its occupants and CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out in the local area."

This is the second time in two weeks that an incident like this has occurred in the same area.

On Sunday, September 22, a woman was dragged to the ground by the passenger of a motorbike who was then chased by witnessess.

At the time, Detective Inspector Phil Atkinson, from Merseyside Police, told the ECHO : “We’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident.

“It is despicable to think that two offenders targeted a lone woman in this way, in daylight, and I know the wider community will share our disgust.

“I want to reassure the local community that we will take action on all the information you provide."
