A woman was injured when a two car crash sent a vehicle smashing into a lamp post in Page Moss.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Ashover Avenue and East Prescot Road at around 2.30pm on Thursday.
Police, fire crews and paramedics were all present after the Volkswagon and Citroen collided.
One of the cars was then seen smashing into a nearby lamppost.
Road closures were quickly put in place at the scene where ambulance workers were seen checking over those involved in the crash.
One woman, in her early 50s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries after the crash, according to North West Ambulance Service.
Traffic diversions were put in place while emergency services responded to the incident.
Both vehicles have now been recovered from the scene and the road was reopened at around 4.15pm.
Pictures taken at the scene show both cars with significant damage and the damage that was caused to the lamppost.
Witnesses described it as being knocked over slightly and said it was leaning when the car was recovered.
