Woman injured after being struck by motorbike near McDonald’s in Brixton

A woman has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a motorbike in a busy south London high street.

The victim, in her 60s, was taken to a major trauma centre after the crash in Brixton Road on Wednesday.

The motorcyclist stopped at the scene outside Brixton McDonalds.

Pictures from the scene show a green superbike and police markers left in the road for accident investigation work.

MP Florence Eshalomi tweeted: “Serious accident involving a motorcycle and pedestrian. Hope no one is seriously injured.”

A Met spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of a collision involving a motorbike and a pedestrian in Brixton Road, SW9.

“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

“The pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, was taken to hospital where her condition will be assessed.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We sent an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car, and a team leader in a car to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a woman at the scene before taking her to a major trauma centre.”
