Woman in serious condition after falling from bridge near Salford Royal Hospital

A woman is in a serious condition after falling from a bridge near Salford Royal Hospital.

Police were called to Stott Lane, the road to the hospital, at around 10.10pm last night (October 3).

They were called to a report of concern for the welfare of a woman on a bridge, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said.

Officers tried to engage with her, but she fell from the bridge a short time later.

She was taken to hospital from the scene with serious injuries.

She remains there in a serious condition.

Stott Lane was cordoned off by officers after the incident last night.

Pictures showed a large section of the road taped off with at least four police vehicles stationed at the scene.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 10.10pm on Sunday 3 October 20201, police were called to a report of concern for the welfare of a woman on a bridge on Stott Lane, Salford.

"Officers attended to engage with the woman but she fell from the bridge a short time later.

"She was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains in a serious condition."
