Woman in hysterics as gesture for boyfriend's birthday spectacularly backfires

We've all been there - ordered something online, only for it to turn up looking nothing like we'd expected.

One woman recently had just this happen with a gift she ordered for her boyfriend.

Amy Compton, 21 decided to gift her partner, Harry, a cushion with her face printed on it for his birthday.

However when the pillow arrived at Amy's house, she was horrified to discover that the design had caused the top of her head and most of her hair to be cropped off, leaving her looking like, in her own words, a "bald jacket potato".

Yes, really.

The nursery nurse did see the funny side of the situation, but decided to order another cushion for her boyfriend - this time showing much more hair.

She said: "I was so shocked. It didn't arrive how I expected it to. I knew it wouldn't be exactly like the picture but I didn't expect it to make me look like a potato.

"It looks like a potato. I just look like a jacket potato. It's got a little bit of my hair on it.

"It's got some hair around the side, but on the top it doesn't look like I've got any hair at all. I just look bald."

She continued to explain that she and Harry have only been together for three months and this is the first occasion she's had to buy him a gift.

"I have no idea what to buy for boys and he's really fussy," she admitted.

"So I was asking him what he wanted and he wasn't being helpful at all. He was saying, 'you choose, I want a surprise'.

"In the end I thought if he wants a surprise, he can have a surprise with my face on it. It was banter. He's got a good sense of humour but that's not what I was expecting.

"When it arrived, I thought, 'what the hell is that'. I thought, 'I can't give this to him, what am I going to do?'."

As well as a new cushion, Amy is also going to gift Harry something else - but she hasn't been able to give the presents to him yet.

She joked that when she does, this fail might start a new tradition in their relationship of gifting each other items with their faces on.

This comes after one woman actually did turn her face into a potato on a video chat.

Lizet Ocampo, the Political Director at People For The American Way found herself making a similar type of blunder, accidentally turned herself into a potato on screen during a video meeting - and couldn't figure out how to undo it.

One of her employees, Rachele Clegg, captured a screengrab of the hilarious moment and shared it on Twitter, where it quickly went viral.

She wrote: "My boss turned herself into a potato on our Microsoft teams meeting and can’t figure out how to turn the setting off, so she was just stuck like this the entire meeting."
