Woman in hospital with serious injuries after being bitten by dog

A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after she was bitten by a dog in Wythenshawe.

Police were called to Woodhouse Lane in Benchill on Sunday (February 2) afternoon to reports a woman had been bitten by a dog.

A 65-year-old woman was taken to hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.

Her condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

The dog was put down following the incident.

Local residents described seeing a number of ambulances at the scene on Sunday afternoon, including an air ambulance.

Police have not released details about the woman's connection to the dog.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Shortly after 1pm on Sunday 2 February 2020, police were called to Woodhouse Lane in Manchester to reports that a woman had been bitten by a dog.

"The woman, who is aged 65, was taken to hospital with serious injuries."
