Woman in hospital with serious head injury after being hit by car in Glasgow city centre

A woman is in hospital with a serious head injury after being struck by a car in Glasgow city centre.

West Nile Street was closed in both directions last night (Saturday) after emergency services raced to the scene.

The 31-year-old is being treated in Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Police confirmed a 52-year-old man has been charged in relation to a road traffic offence.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live: "We received a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian around 9.10pm on West Nile Street, Glasgow, on Saturday October 26, 2019.

"A 31-year-old woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with a serious head injury.

"A 52-year-old man has been charged in relation to a road traffic offence and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
