Woman in hospital after St Patrick's Day celebrations end in huge brawl

St Patrick's Day celebrations ended in misery for one woman after she was rushed to hospital following a huge rammy at the Irish World Heritage Centre.

The large scale street brawl broke out around 11pm last night (Sunday) when revellers were celebrating St Patrick's Day celebrations.

Police raced to the scene and broke up the "large fight" where extensive damage was caused as a result, at the Cheetham Hill venue, according to Manchester Evening News.

The injured woman remains in hospital today according to reports and so far no one has been arrested in connection with the huge fight, according to Greater Manchester Police.

A video taken at the scene showed multiple police cars and ambulance vehicles stationed in the car park.

An eyewitness said he saw "chairs and bottles being thrown" as the brawl broke out.

This came after a parade was held at the centre on Sunday to celebrate St Patrick's Day.

There was also a funfair at the venue, with entertainment on all day and into the evening.

This morning, pictures taken at the scene showed smashed glass and bottles on the floor outside the venue.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called just before 11pm yesterday (13 March 2022) to a report of a large fight at The Irish World Heritage Centre, Manchester.

"Officers attended and the group was subsequently dispersed.

"Extensive damage was caused to the building.

"A woman was taken to hospital where she remains.

"Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.

"Anyone with information or footage should contact police on 101 quoting incident 3110 of 13/03/22. Alternatively, details can be passed via our LiveChat at www.gmp.police.uk or via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
