Woman in hospital after she was attacked in house in quiet cul-de-sac

A woman has been taken to hospital following an assault in a house in Manchester city centre.

The 37-year-old was said to be in a 'stable' condition.

Police and paramedics were called to the house on Maidford Close in the New Islington area of Manchester city centre on Tuesday afternoon.

Pictures from the scene showed three police vehicles and an ambulance at the scene. Police say enquiries are 'ongoing'. No arrests have yet been made.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called to Maidford Close in Manchester at around 4.20pm today (Tuesday 19 May 2020) to reports of an assault.

"A 37-year-old woman has been assaulted and is currently on her way to hospital for treatment with paramedics. Her current condition is described as stable. Police remain in attendance.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."

Anyone with information is asked to call GMP on 101 quoting incident number 1807 of 19/05/20. Alternatively reports can also be made anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
