A woman is in hospital after her flat was deliberately set on fire last night.
Crews and police rushed to the scene on Sandbrook Way, Ainsdale, which was already out when firefighters arrived at the address in Sefton.
Nobody was injured in the incident, which happened just before 10pm.
A woman was taken to hospital as a precaution and for assessment.
The incident is being treated as a suspected arson, and a joint investigation is underway with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Merseyside Police.
The flames broke out on the first floor, and the extent of the damage is as yet unknown.

People were in the house at the time.
