Woman in hospital after being hit by car in Wythenshawe

A woman has been taken to hospital with a head injury after being hit by a car in Wythenshawe.

Emergency services rushed to Poundswick Lane in the town's centre shortly before 5pm this evening (October 21).

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

At this stage her injuries are not believed to be serious, police said.

No further details about the woman's age or identity have been released at this stage.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to assist officers with their enquiries, GMP confirmed. No arrests have been made.

Poundswick Lane was closed in both directions earlier this evening as emergency services responded to the incident.

The road has since re-opened.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Shortly before 5pm today, police were called to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Poundswick Lane, Manchester.

"Emergency services attended and a woman was taken to hospital with a head injury.

"The driver remained at the scene to assist with enquiries.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. The road has since been re-opened."
