Woman in hospital after becoming trapped in two-car crash in Dafen, Llanelli

A woman has been taken to hospital after a two-car crash in Carmarthenshire .

The collision happened shortly before 10.30am on Wednesday morning on the A4138 in Dafen, near Llanelli.

Police, ambulance and firefighters have all been at the scene of the crash, which involved a purple Peugeot and a grey BMW.

A female driver of one of the vehicles involved was trapped in her car and had to be cut free by fire crews.

A spokeswoman for the Mid and West Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call at 10.40am alerting us to a road traffic collision on the A4138 near Dafen Roundabout.

“We sent two crews from Llanelli to the scene.

“One female was medically trapped inside a vehicle and had to be released by the fire service who used hydraulic cutting equipment and a spine board.”

The A4138 was closed between Dafen and Hendy for almost an hour as vehicle recovery was required. 

The injured woman has been taken to hospital in an ambulance. The extent of her injuries at not known at this time.
