An elderly woman has been left with ‘serious injuries’ on Christmas Eve following a horror crash in Bury this morning.
Police scrambled to Manchester Road after a vehicle and pedestrian collided at 11:40am today (December 24). Emergency workers took an elderly woman, thought to be in her 80s, to hospital ‘with serious injuries’, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
Now, a man in his 30s has been arrested. He is being held on suspicion of causing injury by careless driving.

GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
The road was closed for several hours to allow police to undertake their enquiries.
