Woman in her 80s rescued after driving into Lough Erne

A woman in her 80s has been rescued after her car entered the waters of Lough Erne near the village of Bellanaleck in Co Fermanagh.

The incident took place in the Waterhen Lane area around 9.15pm on Monday night, with the woman being taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

A police spokesperson confirmed officers had attended the incident on Monday.

"Police received a report for a concern for safety last night (Monday 20th December) at 9.15pm in the Waterhen lane area of Bellanaleck," a PSNI statement said.

"Officers attended and rescued a woman in her 80s after her car had partially entered the water. She was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries."
