Woman in her 40s hit by car and taken to hospital

A woman was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in a village centre.

The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was taken to hospital after she was hit by a car on the corner of Station Road and Fairfield Road in Ainsdale last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 5pm last night.

North West Ambulance Service confirmed that one person was treated at the scene and taken to hospital.

It was also confirmed that the injuries are not serious.

The driver stopped at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.

An NWAS spokesperson said: "[We were] called at 17:07 to Station Road to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

"Attended with a response vehicle and an ambulance. One patient, a female in her 40s, was treated on scene and taken to hospital. Her injuries were not believed to be serious."

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We were contacted at 5.10pm on Thursday 13 th January following reports of an RTC involving a car and a pedestrian on a Station Road/Fairfield Road in Ainsdale.

"A woman in her 40s suffered cuts and bruising.

"The driver of the car stopped at the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
