Woman in her 60s rushed to hospital after being hit by car

A woman in her 60s was taken to hospital after being hit by a car this afternoon.

Police said they were called just before 1pm after reports a blue Vauxhall Corsa had hit a pedestrian at the junction of Green Lane and Prescot Road, Old Swan.

The woman, said to be in her 60s, suffered an injury to her leg and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The injury is not thought to be life threatening.

The driver stopped at the scene to help police with their enquiries.

Travel monitors INRIX said A57 Prescot Road remains partially blocked, with queuing traffic due to the accident close to Asda on Green Lane.
