Woman in her 50s rushed to hospital after police swoop at 'head-on' crash

A woman in her 50s has been rushed to hospital with injuries after a car crash.

Emergency services were called to County Road, Little Hulton, just before 3pm today, August 7.

Images from the scene appear to show two cars that have collided head-on, leaving their front ends completely crushed.

Pictures also appear to show police swooping on the incident, with at least 11 police officers, two police vans and a police car visible in the road.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service confirmed the woman had been taken to hospital, but advised that she was not suffering major trauma.

The spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News : "We received a report of a crash a 2.58pm.

"It was called in as a collision involving three vehicles, but that may just have been what the witness thought they saw.

"We sent an ambulance and an advanced paramedic to the scene.

"We have taken one patient to hospital - a female in her 50s."

Paramedics remained at the scene for around an hour while they treated the patient before taking her to hospital.

Nearby resident Nicola Fildes was alarmed when she heard the crash outside her home.

She said: "I heard the crash and went to the window.

"To be honest I thought it was something on the building site.

"One of the residents a few doors up from me went out to help gave the injured lady a chair to sit on."

Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for comment.
